Senior Craft Artist

Jiangsu Province Master of Arts and Crafts

Jiangsu Ceramic Art Master

In 1982, he entered Yixing Zisha Craft Factory and studied under contemporary Chinese arts and crafts master Lv Yaochen and Jiangsu ceramic art master Jiang Jianxiang. After three years of apprenticeship, he benefited greatly and gained a deep understanding of the teacher's teachings. In 1984, he entered the Purple Sand Research Institute and studied under his mother, Chinese ceramic art master Cao Wanfen. He further delved into the shape design and innovative techniques of purple sand (his mother was a disciple of the old artist Zhu Kexin and was skilled in making flower and vein vessels). He received his mother's careful guidance in the art of purple sand and had the opportunity to receive the guidance of the pot making master Gu Jingzhou, which further improved his skills. In 1987, I enrolled in the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts to further my studies in ceramic design. From sensibility to rationality, I improved my design ability and artistic cultivation. For 30 years, I have been dedicated to the art of purple clay sculpture, following the path of inheriting tradition and innovating. I am skilled in making various types of purple clay vessels, especially flower goods and patterned vessels. On the basis of inheriting tradition, I have integrated my understanding of the works of past masters into my own thoughts, creating a series of elegant and graceful works, forming my own unique purple clay art style.
